Cove Animal Rescue will be closing to the public temporarily starting Today March 16, 2020 until further notice . Unfortunately that means all volunteers. This decision came out of an abundance of caution and in response to health officials' recommendation to reduce face-to-face contact to prevent the spread of infectious disease as per the  Health Department & The City Of Glen Cove.

Our commitment to providing comfort and care to vulnerable animals remains as strong as ever . Be assured that the dogs, and cats entrusted to us will continue to receive the affection and attention they deserve. Staff will still be here caring for animals .

While Covid-19 is contagious for humans and as of now, is understood to spread primarily from person to person . There is no evidence that companion animals can be infected .

Services Available :

If you have a lost, found pet ,or a dog is at large we will still be following the same protocol . Please contact the local police who will call out the Animal Control Officer .

Cove will be available by appointment to redeem animals .

We will also be available for Emergency surrenders by calling 676-5913 .

If you see an animal online that you are interested in for adoption we will accommodate by appointment only .

We also want to remind the community having a plan in place for animals is critical; individuals who become sick or require hospitalization should first identify a family member, friend or neighbor who can care for the pets if someone in household becomes ill .

Have crates, food and extra supplies on hand for quick movement of pets.

Keep all animal vaccines up to date in the event boarding becomes necessary.

Ensure all medications are documented with dosages and administering directions. Including the prescription from your veterinarian is also helpful.

Pets should have identification: collar with ID tag and microchip (best practice is microchipping).

Please be safe everyone & we hope this will be over very soon .
